    Abstract: 目前對雙語夾用(language mixing)的研究，多認為是學習者語言能力不足而引起，但是本文研究的結果，發現雙語夾用，除了有著一定的發展形式，並且是學習者用以學習第二語言的便徑。在夾用語中，我們發現了許多有趣的學習現象，例如「一次一字詞」原則，替換練習，記憶法學習套語(formula)，漸次擴展詞組結構，和分析現象。雙語夾用的最大功用是提供學習者更多的機會來練習使用第二語言；利用這種自然的練習，來揣摩第二語言的文法。此外，雙語夾用並能使學習者在輕鬆愉快中增進第二語能力。本研究的資料，是取自兩個以國語為母語的學前兒童，在美國德州居留一年半內，沒有專人教導英語的情況下，憑著與講英語者的接觸，自然地學習英語。本研究對語言的教與學將有三個啟示：（一）若要第二語言的學習有效果，就要像學母語學一樣「全天候」的學。（二）語言的學習，要在交談中，才能實際。（三）把雙語夾用應用在教學上，或許可以減少學習壓力、增加講話能力、建立自信心，並提高學習興趣。至於如何應用於教學上，尚待進一步的研究。
