    Abstract: 《原道》為《文心雕龍》首篇,向為學者們所重視,但是《原道》的思想淵源以及「道」的涵義,在學者間卻有許多不同的看法,本文吸收前人的成果,將《原道》之思想淵源與文藝美學聯繫起來探討,指出下列幾點:一、《原道》以《周易》的天人哲學為基礎融和 漢儒的宇宙觀與老莊的「自然」思想,藉漢人的宇宙觀證明「道」亦有「文」,為「尚文 」的作風辯護;又藉老莊的自然本體論,證明有美質者必有美文,為「重質」的傳統思想辯護。二、《原道》之「道」為構造天地萬物的「原理」,而此「原理」具有儒家政治倫理性格。三、文原於道的觀念是基於兩漢以來流行的「天人感應」哲學。四、《原道》重視天地萬物之文彩,與六朝文學重視自然景物(物色)有關。五、劉勰的文藝美學,一言 以蔽之,即文質統一,但文質統一是指美質與美文的統一,就文章言,即是合乎儒家倫理的「情性」與美麗「辭采」的統一。文藝創作活動即是「情」與「辭」(狹義之「文」)的結合。六、文質統一的最高境界是「文」與「道」統一,《原道》的中心思想就是文不離道,道亦不離文,文道統一的典範就是聖人製作的經典,故《原道》的企圖是要奠定儒家的權威。
