    摘要: 在1938至1939年間，日本對吳佩孚展開誘和活動，日方稱之為「竹工作」。這是日本的五相會議決定對中國的謀略構想，委由「對支持別委員會」任命陸軍中將土肥原賢二成立所謂「土肥原機關」的一種謀略機關。其謀略工作包括：(1)在中國成立新的中央政權，(2)集結反蔣大聯盟，(3)在中國進行「分治統治」的原則。然而，吳佩孚的對日態度顯示一中國人的典型，始終拒絕當日本的傀儡。於是，日本所策略的「汪（精衛）吳（佩孚）合作」，終於宣告失敗，吳佩孚亦遭暗殺而死。
