Abstract:	本文以實證資料，檢定於研究地方公共財之需求時常用的兩個假設：追求最大代表性效用及偏好之可分離性。前者使傳統的新古典學派需求理論，可以不加任何顯著修改，而直接應用於地方公共財的探討上；後者可大幅簡化實際估計的程序。不過，由本文所得結果來說，上述兩項假設都未獲證據支持。而有關任何特殊函數型態的簡化假設，亦無法獲實證資料之接納。對於常用這些特殊假設的研究者來說，本文所得結果具相當的破壞力。本文得以完成，必須感謝美國南伊利諾大學(Southern Illinois University-Carbondale)經濟學系D. Primont, S. Grosskopf及R. Rolf三位教授在研究初期所提意見。作者於南伊大時同學Dave Sivan君於作者回國後，協助處理部份實證估計，亦在此道謝。同時感謝南伊大Academic Computing提供程式及電算機設備。學報審查人對文中若干名詞譯名所提建議，雖未能一一採納，亦一併致謝。當然，文中疏漏及錯誤，完全由作者負責。
