Title:	Teaching Chinese (Gwoyu) as a Foreign Language in American Higher Educational Institutions: An Exploratory Study

Abstract:	近廿年來，美國大專院校中國語文課程的設施非常普遍，甚至有些中學及小學亦設有中國語文的課程。在這中國語文教學迅速發展的情況下，有關教師的資格，教材的適當性，輔導教學之羅馬拼音的採用，教學方法的選擇，以及對學習者成績測驗方法等問題的研究均係當務之急。筆者深感欲求上述問題之解決，非事先向正在美國各大學執教中國語文的學者專家就問題之徵結所在作一探討不可，故乃向全美大專中國語文教師作了一項抽樣式的調查。此項調查報告為在美國執教中國語文者，想從事中國語文教學者，以及欲瞭解美國中國語文教學之實際狀況者均提供了一些值得參考的資料。
