Abstract:	本研究針對現代形式語言學偏重形式方面之探討的缺失，利用一段口語故事，加以分析其語句在言談中的功能，由此來探討言談的連貫性，並進一步從聽者的推測行為，討論連貫性與推測之關係，由此來看說話與聽話之間積極活潑之交互作用。為了驗證此一論點，本文利用一個聽故事寫摘要之實驗，實驗結果頗能印證作者之主張。本文的主要論點：一、連貫性不是言談中語句的固有成分；它是說者在估計聽者能力之後，而產生的言談特性；它並非得靠固定的連結標記來達成；它的存在一部分是要靠聽者的推測而來。二、推測是聽解的必要過程，是聽者根據實存的語句以及語境，而積極建設正確理解的過程；推測有刪減、補綴、還原、修正等之功能，由此可見聽解不是簡單的解碼工作而已。總之，在表情達意的大前提底下，語言的心理歷程，是說者和聽者本著「合作原則」，經由彼此心思交流、互動，而產生的一個積極、活潑、建造之歷程。
