    Title:
Other Titles: Perspectives on Homographs in the Chinese, Japanese and Korean Languages

Recently, efforts aimed at coordination and cooperation within the Eastern Asia world are attracting worldwide attention, and East Asian countries are evolving towards mutually beneficial relationships within the region. It has always been my opinion that relationships among countries in Eastern Asia are not only based on political or economic dimensions, but rather, far more important connections are deeply rooted in cultural relationships and traditions. In July 2010, Dr. Seogin EOM, Associate Professor, Yashimagakuen University, Japan, and I compiled and published a book entitled Japanese, Chinese, and Korean Homograph Dictionary. This is a distinctive volume that received a great deal of attention from readers. In this paper, I use concrete examples to explain the rationale and the objectives of this book. Through this thought-provoking analysis of the processes and examples underlying the creation of this dictionary, my goal is to elucidate and accentuate our perspectives on homographs in the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean languages.
