    Abstract: 禪讓是在天治主義與君治主義下，一種強調君德的帝王權位和平轉移理論，其思想基因主
    要來自德治思想，而其構成要件則來自尚書堯典與孟子書中的記載。就其政治思想意義而言，它意謂著讓德、公天下、傳天下，尤其是傳天下－－為天下得人，其意義更加高遠。本文討論了孔子、墨子、商鞅、孟子、莊子、荀子、韓非等七人對禪讓的看法，以堯舜禪讓為焦點。諸子由於史觀、思想、目的等的不同，其論點頗多歧異，這不是史實認定的對錯問題，而純然是主觀價值取捨與運用問題。就中國思想發展而言，禪讓觀念應該是在孔子的仁學與正名思想建立以後的事。聖王思想的基型是以聖定王，而歷史上的政治現實卻是以王定聖，於是假禪讓為攘奪者不絕於史，蔚為傳統政治現象的奇觀。堯舜禪讓也許不是史實，但堯天舜日的理想卻深入中國人心，其傳天下的思想震撼，卻是無比的真實。
