    Abstract: 隨著國際潮流的發展，建立社會發展指標以促進大眾對於社會願景的討論、瞭解社會發展現況並監測相關政策成效，加強政府的責信、深化民主，已成為許多國際組織及各國政府發展的重要方向。因此，各國政府也紛紛根據其不同的目的及社會狀況，分別建構符合其社會需求之社會發展指標。其發展經驗可作為我國未來建構社會發展指標之參考。本文以澳洲、愛爾蘭及香港建構指標的經驗進行探討，並提出幾項建構相關指標時可思考的議題，包括指標的使用者與目的、國際或國內取向、諮詢範圍與指標正當性、成果導向或政策導向、綜合性指數或一組指標、指標之領域及面向、指標建構的流程與步驟、指標的選取原則與標準等議題，期待能有助於我國未來社會發展指標之推動。
