Capstone courses are increasingly used in Colleges and Universities worldwide to enable senior students to integrate and deepen what they have learned, to reflect on their learning and deficiencies and to transit successfully into their chosen career paths. Capstone courses make college education not just the accumulation of credits, but a meaningful, holistic learning experience. Therefore, Capstone courses are often referred to the last mile of a college education. In this research, we will explore capstone courses’ function, principles, current practice in higher education and examine some possibilities in Taiwan’s teacher education program.
