    Title: 「異國、都會與跨文化接觸：張若谷的創作、翻譯與1930年代上海都會文化」計畫成果報告

    Abstract: 張若谷（1904-1967），小說家、教師、記者、編輯，在三十年代上海出版了《異國情調》、《都會交響曲》等描寫都會生活的作品集，因此以往多以｢上海都會作家」為人所憶述。然而張若谷實也為一譯者，其翻譯作品包括了《拉封丹寓言》（Fables choisies mises en vers）、《留滬外史》（Ce qui ne s＇avoue pas, même à Shanghai, ville de plaisirs），伏爾泰（Voltaire, 1694-1778）知名的劇作《中國孤兒》（L"Orphelin de la Chine: la morale de Confucius en cinq actes）等，對現代中國的西方文學翻譯頗有貢獻。張若谷並積極於報刊發表評介異國文藝的作品，致力推廣西歐、日本各國文學及藝術，主張以之催生中國文藝再興，其人其事饒富文學與文化史意義。本研究涵蓋了以下幾個面向：一、張若谷的生平及其文學活動探析，二、張若谷的翻譯對其文學創作所產生之影響，三、張若谷在抗戰時譯伏爾泰（Voltaire）《中國孤兒》之文化意涵，略談及伏爾泰與張若谷的異國情調文學論述。本研究旨在探討張若谷著譯活動中之都會文化、跨文化接觸與國家想像等議題，並希望由小見大，以之作為探討中國文學中的現代性之一例。
