    Abstract: 宮官是後宮女官的代稱，原本是侍奉后妃的女性職官，她們上呈后妃指令，下督宮女實作，是後宮的管理階層。宮官組織有六局二十四司，其職責分為文書處理、贊相禮儀、生活管理、督責懲罰等四大類型。但宮官的功能在擴大中，或被派遣出宮辦事，或參與政務，或侍候文案，與原本職能已有所不同。宮官的名號亦時有變動，新名號頻頻出現，顯示後官女官正在醞讓新的體系。宮官來源有聽聞召入、良家入選、宮女升進三種，由於宮官不需以色侍人，所以不在乎年輕貌美，而以能力、品德為重要考量，有些人甚至是孀婦。為了滿足宮中的各類需求，宮廷教育非常重要，宮官有時扮演施教者的角色。宮官的衣食待遇依尊卑身分給授，政治待遇在韋后主政時大幅提高，但其宮內生活孤單，一年也只能見親人一次。唐朝的宮官勢力在女主專政時最顯著，武則天選召才婦入宮任職，協助處理政務；韋后時期的宮官則干預國政，影響朝局。此外，宮官還曾引導官員上朝，在內廷批示文書，甚至因長於議論而涉入政爭。宮官雖然隱身宮廷內，但在政治上仍有某種程度的影響力。
