    Abstract: 本文旨在透過「抽樣訪問方法」來探究傳播媒介對個人「現代化」程度的影響。其次，本研究提及的「現代化」是指器用、社會關係和思想觀念的「現代化」。研究顯示：(1)個人的教育程度和經濟力對其現代化程度有顯著影響；(2)個人使用媒介的「量」和其現代化程度有關，尤其是使用印刷媒介的量；(3)個人接觸媒介的「內容」和其現代化程度有關，尤其是印刷媒介的內容；(4)在媒介使用上，遠見的、求知的動機和個人現代化程度顯著相關；(5)在傳播活動中，注意、尋找、批評、判斷、期待、記憶等因素和現代化程度顯著相關；(6)以報紙為主要媒介的人，比以電視為主的人現代化程度高。本文認為：常使用媒介有助個人的現代化，但是媒介使用的時間太多反而不是好事。
