Title:	解讀2005美國新版—卡內基高等教育機構分類表

Abstract:	將全美大學加以分類的「卡內基分類表」廣被美國各級政府使用，作為參考決定高等教育資源分配，以及全國各基金會贊助高等教育經費多寡、教育學者從事研究必須的參考，更是「美國新聞與世界報導」年度大學排行榜的分類依據。其對高等教育研究人員、決策人士及各校的重要性，不言可喻。成立於1906年的美國「卡內基教學促進基金會」(The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching) ，為一個獨立的教育政策與研究中心，於1970年委由基金會的「高等教育委員會」(Carnegie Commission on Higher Education) ，開始進行美國大學分類研究，並於1973年首次出版對全美大學院校所做的分類結果。舉凡美國教育部所認可的全美各大學院校，列名在每年的《高等教育指南》(Higher Education Directory)者，均是「卡內基分類表」適用的對象。所有資料分析來源係根據國家教育統計中心「高等教育資料整合系統」(Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System，簡稱IPEDS)。評量採樣時間主要採用各大學三年畢業生人數狀況的平均數，以避免因單年所產生的不公，並可充分了解各大學的發展動向。
