Abstract:	本稿の目的は脅威の認識という概念を権力とアイデンティティ共有（ shared identity）という二つのアプローチから検討し、分析枠組みは「脅威認識の二層構造」と名付ける。この「脅威認識の二層構造」を使って 1952 年（日米安全保障条約の締結）から 1996 年（日米同盟の再定義）まで米国の対日本安全保障政策での脅威認識、及び米国社会における対日イメージを対照して考察する。本稿は四つの部分から構成される。第一節では、分析枠組みの「脅威認識の二層構造」を紹介する。第二節では、戦後米国の対日安全保障政策を考察する。また各時期における米国の政策決定者の国際環境や日本に対する脅威認識について検討する。第三節では、米国における対日イメージを振り返る。米国社会では日本とアイデンティティを共有するかどうかを検討する。第四節では、米国内社会の対日観や脅威認識、政策決定者の脅威認識の相互関係を考察する。
