Abstract:	本文譯自《經營管理英國廣播公司》（Governing the BBC），原作者為亞塞．布瑞格斯（Asa Briggs）。作者主張要經由制度結構的比較，以及歷史追溯的方式來了解英國特有的廣播制度，同時也強調研究英國廣播不能脫離整個大環境，需考量英國的社會經濟政治結構等背景因素。本書共分成六部分：簡介－一個人如何管理BBC、第一章：權力和表現、第二章：委員介紹、第三章：公眾監督、第四章：事件摘錄、第五章：不定的未來。本文所翻譯的部分則是原書的前兩部分。原書一開始的簡介部分，先從英國廣播事業的發展歷史寫起，接著介紹BBC管理委員會的設立與運作，並指出管理委員會的正式權力，是來自於五項皇家憲章的規定，文中也有提供歷屆管理委員會成員的名單。而在BBC的內部，總經理、委員會及董事長間的複雜關係，被認為是一種特殊的三角關係，不論是互動或是權力的行使都受到彼此的影響與牽制。於是作者接著從BBC內部權力與表現的角度切入，以歷時性的筆法從英國廣播事業的創始、一九三零年代的戰爭期間、戰後的貝弗瑞調查委員會期間、凱得更任內、格林殷繼任BBC總經理期間、希爾時代、到史旺任內，都做了相當程度的描寫。
