Title:

The purpose of this study is to introduce the current status of Korean cultural education in Taiwan and to set up cultural education goals and find improvement directions. Despite its long history and remarkable quantitative growth, there is still much problem for improvement in Korean language education in Taiwan. In particular, cultural education is considered to be a supplementary means of language education, and independent and systematic cultural education is hardly seen. Most of the Korean culture learning is based on the understanding of pop culture centering on the Korean Wave, and there are not many cases where even professional public education institutions are systematically implemented. Korean language education and cultural education are perceived as an inseparable relation in Korean language education as a foreign language. Studies and examples of how cultural education should be done and how it should be linked to language education have been developed along with changes in the perception of importance. Nevertheless, there are many theories and educational methods that can be used in the field of Korean language education. Therefore, in order to develop Korean culture education in Taiwan, it is necessary to grasp the current status and characteristics and set the goal and content of culture education in accordance with the needs of learners.
