    Abstract: Mit der Aufrechterhaltung und Erweiterung der Seeherrschaft der europäischen Länder wie Portugal und Spanien kam es im 15. Jahrhundert zum ersten Kontakt zwischen östlichen und westlichen Kulturen. Durch Aufzeichnungen und Berichte von Reisenden und Geschäftsleuten wurden die Menschen im Abendland immer neugieriger und bekamen auch immer mehr Sehnsucht nach dem mysteriösen China. Dennoch wurde das Chinabild aufgrund des Aufstiegs und Zerfalls der verschiedenen Dynastien im Westen bzw. in der westlichen Literatur unterschiedlich interpretiert und präsentiert. Obwohl China seit über hundert Jahren nicht mehr von einem Kaiser regiert wird, wurde sein Leben dennoch weiterhin in vielen chinesischen und auch einigen westlichen Werken beschrieben. 2008 erschien beispielsweise ein deutschsprachiges Buch mit dem Titel Der Kaiser von China; Autor dieses Romans ist der junge deutsche Schriftsteller Tilman Rammstedt, der mit diesem Werk noch im gleichen Jahr den Ingeborg-Bachmann- Preis und den Preis des Publikums bekam. Aber welche Rolle könnte China bzw. der Kaiser von China in diesem modernen Roman spielen? Hat er darin eine wesentliche oder eher eine symbolische Bedeutung? Um diese Fragen zu beantworten, werden in dieser Arbeit vor allem aus dem Blickwinkel des Exotismus das echte und falsche Chinabild sowie Schein und Sein des Kaisers im Roman Der Kaiser von China analysiert und interpretiert.
    伴隨著歐洲如西班牙、葡萄牙等海權國家的興起與發展，中、西方在15世紀有了第一次的接觸。冒險家及商人的描述與報導雖逐漸引發了西方人士對神秘中國的興趣及嚮往，但西方社會及文學中描述的中國卻因各個朝代的興衰有著不同的面貌。儘管中國早在百餘年前就已經廢除帝制，然而中國皇帝不但仍常常成為中國文學的主題，也偶爾出現在西方著作之中。2008年，德國年輕作家堤爾曼．拉姆斯施泰特（Tilman Rammstedt）的德文小說「Der Kaiser von China（中國皇帝）」就是一個例子。作者更因此獲得了英格博格．巴赫曼文學奬（Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis）的殊榮。究竟中國及中國皇帝在這本小說中扮演了什麼樣的角色？又具有什麼實質或象徵意義？本文將從異國情調（Exotismus）的視角出發，檢視這本小說裡所描繪的中國形象。｜With the rise and expansion of European maritime powers such as Spain and Portugal, China and the West came into direct contact for the first time in the 15^(th) century. The descriptions and reports of adventurers and merchants gradually roused the interest and aspiration of Westerners toward the mysterious China, yet the image of China portrayed in Western society and literature shifted with the rise and fall of each dynasty. Although the system of imperial rule was abolished in China more than a hundred years ago, not only do Chinese emperors often become the subject of Chinese literature, but they occasionally appear in Western writings as well. Published in 2008, the German novel Der Kaiser von China (The King of China) by Tilman Rammstedt, a young German writer, is one example. The author was even awarded the prestigious Ingeborg Bachmann Prize for his work. What role did China and Chinese emperors play in this novel? What are their real or symbolic meanings? This paper will examine the image of China depicted in the novel through the perspective of exoticism.
