| Abstract: | 自 2016 年蔡英文上台以來，台灣的政策發生了重大變化，台灣與中國的所有官方 接觸被中斷，於是台灣尋求更獨立的路徑，試圖減少對中國的經濟和政治依賴。台灣 努力在國際社會發聲，這導致在中美間的權力競爭中，其受到了更多的關注。這些政 策變化延續到蔡英文的第二任期，台灣加強與美國的合作，以促進自身的安全。儘管 受到中國的壓力，台灣仍積極增加與美國的軍事交流，並進口武器來應對安全威脅， 這些努力增強了台灣在國際上的認可，並保護了台灣的主權地位。
中國利用經濟增長，現代化軍隊，並以確保台灣，同時加強地區主導地位。美國 為回應，將台灣視為準盟友，提供更密切的合作。台灣的生存依賴於美國，因此增加 了軍火進口和軍事交流。台灣從過去僅是美中競爭中的一張牌，轉變為真正的「戰略 夥伴」。
在美中權力競爭中，川普政府採取對抗策略，強調國防開支和軍事創新，而拜登 政府則著重調整與合作，加強聯盟，尤其是在印太地區。兩屆政府的目標都是通過軍 事能力和聯盟來應對中國的挑戰，保護國家安全和利益。競爭轉變爲短期的激烈鬥爭。 如果中國的衰落加速，它可能會在失去入侵台灣的機會之前，採取冒險行動。
In Since Tsai Ing-wen assumed office in 2016, Taiwan’s policies have undergone significant changes. All official contacts with China were severed, and Taiwan sought a more independent path to reduce economic and political dependence on China. Efforts were made to raise Taiwan’s voice in the international community, leading to increased attention in the US-China power competition. These policy changes have continued into Tsai`s second term, with Taiwan enhancing cooperation with the US to promote its security. Despite China`s pressure, Taiwan has increased military exchanges and arms imports from the US to counter security threats. These efforts have strengthened Taiwan`s international recognition and protected its sovereignty.
China, leveraging economic growth, modernized its military and aimed to secure Taiwan while strengthening regional dominance. In response, the US treated Taiwan as a quasi-ally, providing closer cooperation. Taiwan`s survival relied on the US, leading to increased arms imports and military exchanges. Taiwan transformed from a mere card in the US-China competition to a “strategic partner.”
In the US-China power competition, the Trump administration pursued a confrontational strategy, emphasizing defense spending and military innovation. The Biden administration focused on adjustment and cooperation, strengthening alliances, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. Both administrations aimed to counter China`s challenges and protect national security and interests using military capabilities and alliances. The competition shifted to a short-term intense struggle. If China`s decline accelerates, it may act adventurously before losing the opportunity to invade Taiwan. |
