    Abstract: 對老人觀眾的情感現象、心理發展階段是否與一般觀眾不同,因而影響其對電視劇劇情特別留戀?本文嘗試以心理學家榮格(Carl G. Jung, 1875-1961)之理論強調,電視世界對有影視經驗的老人而言,可謂是具有「符號象徵的(擬真)」意義轉換過程。老人觀眾對電視劇訊息的接收程度有賴透過具有個別特色和獨特經驗的「自我」,將電視劇訊息置於心靈意識場域之表層。而基於個人之自我不同、掌握意識的能力與程度不同、心靈內容不同,對個別老人觀眾而言,有些電視劇訊息因而顯得特別有其意義,有些則否。
    The purpose of this paper is to reassess the older adults` psychological experience in television drama viewing. By using Carl G. Jung`s personality theories, this paper tries to build up a theoretical model connecting the elderly viewing style with television drama. To the authors of this paper, the older adults should not be defined merely by considering their physical abilities and appearance. Rather, their viewing interactions with television messages should always be appreciated because they are often expert in interpreting drama meanings with aesthetic experiences. The paper, therefore, suggests future communication research to re-consider the meaning of "audience" by putting more emphasis on the aesthetic personalities of the TV viewing experience.
