    Abstract: 《度日》是一群來自台灣雲林鄉間的青年的故事,他們在高風險的家庭中長大,在未成年的階段提前離開了安置機構,沒有家庭的奧援,又無法回到校園體制生活,只能從事高勞力、高風險,甚至灰色地帶的工作來維持生計。他們有著青春的躁動、想望,在期盼翻轉人生的同時,也想辦法在社會中找到一席之地。
    本片是從新聞專題報導開始,看見青年們遇到的困境及生活上的轉變後,我便決定以紀錄短片的形式發展。這是我第一次拍攝紀錄片,過程中持續摸索、拿捏與被攝者之間的界線,試圖跳脫新聞影片的製作方式,在敘事上提供新的觀點。本片的題材既特殊又敏感,被攝者處於青少年階段,又時常遇到金錢上的問題和生活上的變動,作為導演,我反而成為改變、受益最多的人,這也提醒我不論在面對紀錄片或受訪者都應該更加尊重與謙卑。
    本文是《度日》的創作理念及製作說明,詳細記錄了從田野調查、補助申請到剪接的過程,包括創作理念與動機、拍攝上的困難、被攝者的狀態改變、製作倫理的挑戰、後製上的選擇,也藉由影展中的觀眾回饋及自我檢討,讓我重新省思紀錄片對於這群青年們的意義及能夠提供給觀眾的觀點,也希望我的經歷能夠讓未來的紀錄片創作者作為參考。
    In Their Teens portrays the story of a group of young individuals from rural areas in Yunlin,Taiwan, who grew up in families at risk, lacking support and finding it challenging to reintegrate into the educational system. Consequently, they had to engage in physically demanding, highrisk, and even jobs in legal grey areas to sustain themselves. These youths aspire to turn their lives around while attempting to find a place for themselves in society.
    The film originated from a news feature, and I decided to develop it into a documentary short film. The aim was to provide a fresh perspective on storytelling. The subject is unique and sensitive, as the individuals are in their teenage years, frequently facing financial challenges and
    life fluctuations. As a director, I underwent the most change and benefited the most throughout the process.

    This is a self-reflexive essay on my documentary work In Their Teens. It accounts for the process from field study to editing, including motivations, various challenges, and difficulty in every ethical situation during decision-making throughout production and post-production.
    Through audience feedback at film festivals and my self-reflection, I have re-evaluated the influences of the documentary on these young individuals and the perspectives it can offer to audiences. I hope these experiences could serve as helpful references for future documentary
    filmmakers.
