Abstract:	本書以設計史觀的角度，深入探訪台灣設計教育的發展狀情況，內容共計七大章，從日據時代，光復初期的圖畫教育到民國五０年代以後的美術工藝教育的演變；接著作者並從西方設計教育的理念、數位設計風暴等角度，剖析當代設計界的各種現象。本書作者先後以口述歷史、焦點訪談等方法，前後訪問國內外設計學者數十人次以上，對台灣視覺設計的發展有重要的紀錄。<br>由於台灣設計史相關的學術著作幾近空白，唯一的線索便鎖定報章雜誌或相關社團的活動記錄，這些資料不只提供作者在事件的年表製作上有很重要的參考依據，裡面的人物及當事者更是作者日後作口述歷史訪問的選取對象，這些受訪者不只親口驗證文獻記載的真實性，更將史料作最深一步的詮釋，而在往後受訪者的私人文獻收藏中，更有意外的收穫，許多姓名在受訪者的回憶中一一浮上檯面，整個台灣設計運動的過程，也在模糊中一筆一畫地被勾勒出來。
