    Abstract: 本研究計畫的目的是結合傾向分數配對（propensity score matching）方法與多層次模型（mutlti-level modeling）的分析方法，分析具台灣地區代表性之「台灣教育長期追蹤資料庫」（以下簡稱TEPS）追蹤樣本現場使用版，以瞭解國中時期選入前段班或好班之學生或中後段班學生在國三時學習成就上的差異。能力分班對於中小學時期學習成就的效果在國外研究甚多，但並無定論。沒有定論的原因之一是因為傳統分析方法無法有效控制未觀察到之因素對能力分班效果的影響。在台灣，利用具全國代表性樣本在此議題上的分析則仍付之闕如。具體而言，本研究計畫可回答研究問題如下：（1）國中時期進入前段班或好班的學生，如果是在一般常態分班的話，其學習成就是否會有如一般所言的正面效果？（2）反之，進入中後段班的學生，如果是在一般常態分班的話，其學習成就是否會有一般認為的負面效果？（3）再者，該進入前段班的學生，如果是到中後段班的話，其學習成就的差異為何？（4）不論是在前段班或是在中後段班，能力分班對學生學習成就的影響是否會因個人的先備能力，或是不同的學習條件，如教師的期望或學校整體學習風氣等而會有差異。
