Nowadays, people burden with difference pressures in their lives. One of the ways to reduce such load is using their leisure times to do tourism activities. The Taiwan government supports tourism activities enthusiastically by promoting national travels, embellishing a lot of travel spots with not only educational but also recreational functions. This policy leads Taiwanese to value their spare times, seeking places or activities to mitigate their pressures. National Palace Museum is one of the most popular tourism places in Taiwan because it provides relaxing, entertaining, educating experience for visitors. The Internet changes the way in which people search and use of information, particularly for the usability of website interfaces. This study uses National Palace Museum as the research subject. The purpose is to investigate mobile device interfaces and functions for navigating exhibits in National Palace Museum on the basis of individual user’s perspective. Through a 3-year-long stage-wise “design research” experimental method, we shall understand user’s preference, satisfaction, and navigation performance. During the project period, we shall replace the traditional navigation via text-reading method with intuitive audio-video information and easy to memorize displays to design an optimal interface that fits the screens of mobile phones. This allows the visitors to obtain museum information efficiently and effectively. It in turns increases the user’s intention to visit the palace museum and greatly benefits the economy of cultural and creativity industries. The contribution of this study to the academic literature is significant as well.
