    Abstract: 本計畫從研究中古講道詞、聖經詮釋、修辭及教育理論為始，以瞭解其時基督徒在採用古典或中古修辭學來詮釋聖經時與前人有何異同為基石。此異同將用以瞭解《農夫皮爾斯之信條》(Pierce Ploughmans Crede)、《愉悅的閒睱》(The Pastime of Pleasure)、及《仙后》第一章(The Faerie Queene)中、其作者如何以重塑古典／中古修辭學來呈現救恩論。透過本計畫，我想找出此三位作者之定位，瞭解當其他基督徒一直在聖經詮釋中以重塑古典／中古修辭學來呈現不同版本的救恩論時，這三位作者較依循何種模式。透過本計畫，我希望瞭解這三個文本中的救恩論之呈現是較依循中古修辭學傳統還是開了更正教時期前後修辭學之先河。
    This project starts with a general study of biblical commentaries, sermons, and the rhetorical and educational treatises from the fourteenth to the sixteenth centuries with a focus on how Christians then followed or differed from earlier Christians when they adapted classical/medieval rhetoric for biblical interpretations. Then I will study the adaptations of classical/medieval rhetoric for literary interpretations in Pierce the Ploughmans Crede, The Pastime of Pleasure, and The Faerie Queene, Book I, with a focus on the presentations of the doctrines of salvation in them. Through this study, I hope to decide roughly where these three poets stand in the development of Christian adaptations of classical/medieval rhetoric for the presentations of the doctrines of salvation through interpretations, biblical and otherwise. Through this study, I hope to understand whether the presentations of the doctrines of salvation in the three texts look more backward to medieval adaptations of classical rhetoric or more forward to the adaptations of rhetoric around the Reformation.
