    Abstract: 日本民主黨(JDP)於2009 年9 月，擊敗從1955 年以來便一直長期執政的自由民主黨(LDP)，日本民主黨的上台開啟，日本左派政黨執政的歷史新頁。但是從1955 年日本自由黨(LP)與民主黨(DP)所合併建立的「五五體制」以來，日本政黨政治一直是由保守右派路線的合流所主導，左派政黨的勢力便顯得相當微不足道，特別是1996 年社會黨籍(JSP)村山富市首相下台之後，更造成日本左派力量的大衰退。過去日本政治研究大多集中在執政的自由民主黨研究，對於日本左派政黨的研究，特別是日本共產黨、日本民主黨及日本社民黨(包含日本社會黨)更是鳳毛麟角。因此，本研究計畫將以日本戰後三大左派政黨--日本共產黨、日本民主黨及日本社民黨為例，分析這三個政黨的形成、發展與演變，在研究方法上，則將結合質性的歷史文獻分析法及實地訪談訪，與量性的社會科學統計方法，希望能夠解構為何過去日本左派政黨無法執政，而現今卻能夠取得政權的主要原因，以填補日本政黨政治研究的不足。
    Yukio Hatoyama lead the Japan Democratic Party (JDP) overwhelming success on August 30, 2009, end one party ruling of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) from 1955. JDP established by 1998, why the JDP can beat LDP and take power during 11 years? In the past, Japan study all focus on ruling party--Liberal Democratic Party(LDP), and neglect the three left parties—Japan Democratic party(JDP), Social Democratic Party(SDP) and Japan Communism Party(JCP). The prime argument of this article is that Japanese economic recession from 1990s is the main impetus for the tremendous change and to explore the origin, development and transformation of the three parties. After the election, the entrance of a large number fresh congressman in to the Diet will facilitate the convergence of liberalism. This article try to analyze JDP, SDP and JCP political craft from interaction and institution dimension.
