With the advent of women's movement in the mid-1960s, feminist approach has not only gradually been perceived as a new method in rhetorical criticism but challenged rhetorical theories and methods as well. Trying to clarify the methodology of a rhetorical criticism from feminist perspective, this paper first reviews the philosophical assumptions, methodological principles, purposes and qualities of feminist criticism. Besides, by examining the themes and trends of the related research practice in Taiwan, this paper concludes by exploring the future prospects of the field.
