    Abstract: 西方老年人多為獨居或與配偶同住,但在台 灣之許多老年人多與成年子女同住,大多數為 三代同堂.依據1986年台灣人力資源調查資料顯 示,超過65%老年人係與一位子女同住,5.5%輪住於 不同子女家中,僅有11%與配偶同住,13%獨居,以及 4.4%居住於老人院或與非親人同住.同時,在台灣 超過半數之老年人曾接受子女之經濟援助(58% 由子女負擔日常生活開支, 59%支付醫療費用). 在身體功能衰退之老年人中,有81%是由親人在家中照顧,但近年來,因為多數婦女加入勞動市 場,很少人能在家照顧高齡父母,故三代同堂之 居住方式日趨困難.建立全民健康保險是台灣 六年國建主要項目之一,有鑑此項重要福利政 策之推行,以及上述家庭結構之變遷,所擬研究 計畫,欲達到下列兩項目的:(1)研究三代同堂與 老年人長期照顧之基本關係;(2)綜合傳統家庭 照顧與政府支持之健康保險,發展出合乎於經 濟效率之全民保健制度.
