    Abstract: 本研究利用專利組合圖來探討薄膜太陽能電池產業中各企業的技術領域現況及發展重點,從而給予研發資源配置與專利佈局策略上的建議。研究對象為日本前五大太陽能電池廠商,研究範圍則包括矽薄膜類、碲化鎘/硫化鎘類、銅銦硒/銅銦鎵硒類,以及染料敏化類薄膜太陽能電池。
    透過檢索美國專利商標局(USPTO)資料庫,將獲得的專利資料按照三個專利指標進行運算,其分別為技術相對成長潛力率RDGR、專利相對定位RPP與專利相對優勢RPA,並繪製各廠商的專利組合圖,再配合產業資訊後可得知:(1)四類薄膜太陽能電池的之發展潛力的強度依序為:矽薄膜>銅銦硒/銅銦鎵硒>碲化鎘/硫化鎘>染料敏化;(2)目前全球薄膜太陽能電池產業以碲化鎘/硫化鎘類為市場主流;(3)申請薄膜太陽能電池專利的台灣組織甚少,且大多為學術或研究機構,真正投入薄膜太陽能電池的台灣企業仍是少數,因此台灣的產學合作必須變得更加緊密。
    The purpose of this study was to investigate the current situation of technology fields and development emphasis of companies in thin film solar cell industry by using patent portfolio, and give corresponding advice on the R&D resource allocation and patent deployment strategy to those companies afterwards. The objects of study are the top five solar cell companies in Japan. The research areas included different types of thin film solar cells, which are silicon thin film, CdTe/CdS, CIGS/CIS and DSSC.
    By searching the patent database of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the patent data obtained were then used for calculating three patent indicators, which are relative development growth rate (RDGR), relative patent position (RPP) and relative patent advantage (RPA). Subsequently, patent portfolio for each Japanese solar cell company was drawn. After analyzing the patent portfolios together with industry information, the followings were discovered: (1) the order of strength of development potential of four types of thin film solar cells is: silicon thin film > CIGS/CIS > CdTe/CdS > DSSC; (2) Globally, the mainstream market of thin film solar cell industry is CdTe/CdS; (3) The number of Taiwanese organizations applying for thin film solar cell patents is still very few. Moreover, most of them are academic related rather than commercial related. Thus, the industry-academy cooperation in Taiwan should be much closer and greater.
