This study explores strategic collaboration between non-profit organizations and schools, and examines the learning efficacy of students in the Taipei County Teachers’ Association Branch of the Yonglin School of Hope. This study interviewed twelve students who attend the after-school supplementary program, as well as their regular teachers, program tutors, and parents to understand the factors and circumstantial changes that influence the efficacy of students’ learning. Research results showed the following changes in the learning efficacy of students participating in the supplementary program: an increased interest in school subjects, more enthusiastic attitudes toward learning, continuous progress in academic marks, and improvement in cognitive, emotional, and external behavior. A minority of students continued to exhibit negative attitudes toward learning. Results also indicated that the following factors influenced changes in the efficacy of students’ learning: the student’s family, the student as an individual, and the after school supplementary program. Based on these research outcomes, this study makes proposals for changes in educational policies.
