Abstract:	19世紀末抽水機引進國內后首先用于礦場,極少部分用于農業生產,1920年代江浙地區的大旱凸顯了機器抽水機的優勢,吸引農民集資采用新式抽水機。除了傳統的蒸汽、柴油動力抽水機外,1924年江蘇武進與發電廠合作推廣電力灌溉,利用電網串聯多臺抽水機進行排灌作業,有效擴大了供水范圍。由于成效卓著,電力灌溉系統在戰前江南與抗戰時的西南地區快速推廣。對農業生產來說,水的供應在很大程度上決定了植物生長的好壞,而抽水機的應用改變了以往"看天吃飯"的生產模式,使農民對水利的運用更上一層樓,在一定程度上擺脫了自然環境的限制。
