    Title: 我國父母管教方式、子女自我概念與其生活適應表現之後設分析
    Relationships of parenting style, children`s self-concept, and children`s life adjustment in Taiwan：A meta-analysis

    Abstract: 為了解父母管教方式、子女自我概念及其生活適應表現間的關係，本研究使用「後設分析法」（meta-analysis）探討自西元2000年至今，在不同人口變項(性別比、發表年代、單親人口比及教育層級)下，父母管教方式(開明權威、寬鬆放任、專制權威及忽視冷漠)的不同，對子女自我概念及其生活適應表現(個人適應及學校適應)差異影響的相關研究。並使用結構方程模式，建構「父母管教方式、子女自我概念及其生活適應表現」之路徑模式，結果獲知：
    一、父親和母親均採用「開明權威」的管教方式類型，會比他們均採用「寬鬆放任」、「專制權威」及「忽視冷漠」的管教方式類型，子女會有最佳的自我概念及生活適應表現。
    二、父親和母親均採用「忽視冷漠」的管教方式類型，會比他們均採用「開明權威」、「寬鬆放任」及「專制權威」的管教方式類型，子女會有最差的自我概念及生活適應表現。
    三、母親採用「忽視冷漠」的管教方式類型，對子女自我概念及其生活適應表現的傷害，會更甚於父親採用相同的管教方式類型。
    四、子女的自我概念越佳，其生活適應的表現會越好。
    五、子女的自我概念會在父親和母親均採用「回應」的管教方式內涵與子女的生活適應表現間，扮演完全中介的角色。
    六、父親和母親均採用「要求」的管教方式內涵，僅會直接影響子女的學校適應表現。
    根據上述研究發現，以Bowlby(1958)的依附理論及Hirschi和Gottfredson (1990)的自我控制理論予以討論，並針對教育當局及學校單位提出推動親職教育及輔導工作的教育應用與相關研究之建議。
    Abstract
    To understand the relationships between parenting styles, children’s self-concept, and children’s life adjustment, this study taking demographics’ influences (e.g., ratio of children’s sex, publication year, ratio of single parent, and parents’ educational levels) into account investigated the influence of different parenting styles (e.g., authoritative, indulgent, authoritarian, and neglecting) on children’s self-concept and their life adjustments (e.g., personal adjustment and school adjustment) through a meta-analysis approach (dates of the applied studies ranges from the year of 2000th and the present). This study also developed a path model for the above addressed relationships via the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The overall analytical results are presented as below:
    1. Children have the best self-concept and life adjustments for parents who adopted authoritative parenting style than others (i.e., indulgent, authoritarian, and neglecting parenting styles).
    2. Children have the worst self-concept and life adjustments for parents who adopted neglecting parenting style than others (i.e., authoritative, indulgent, and authoritarian parenting styles).
    3. The detrimental effect on children’s self-concept and their life adjustments is greater for mothers who adopted neglecting parenting style than fathers who adopted the same parenting style.
    4. The better children’s self-concept is, the better their life adjustments are.
    5. Children’s self-concept fully mediates the relationship between parenting style that is responsive in nature and children’s life adjustments.
    6. Parenting style that is demanding in nature only influences children’s school adjustment directly.

    The researcher applied Bowlby’s (1958) attachment theory and Hirschi and Gottfredson’s (1990) control theory to further discuss the above research findings and proposed suggestions for relevant departments of education and school units to better promote parent education, counselling services, and related research, accordingly.
