Title:	永嘉前後吳姓與僑姓關係之轉變

Abstract:	宋祁在唐書卷一百九十九儒學柳沖傅中，指出開元初年（七一三年－），沖等奉詔刊定姓氏錄，後來，柳芳根據它寫為專論，當中提到「過江則為僑姓……東南則為吳姓……山東則為郡姓……關中亦號郡姓……代北則為虜姓……」，像「僑姓」、「吳姓」等名稱，雖不一定是柳沖等所造作，也當是唐朝人的說法。因為在唐朝以前，還沒有能找到有關這種說法的記載。然而從這以後，很顯然地，已經不再把它當作是柳芳等一家之言，而視之為本來如是的事實，像五代王溥在他所編撰的唐會要卷三十六氏族條裏，雖節引了這一段，卻沒有標明它的出處，是一個最好的證明。而這些名稱，遂為後人所共認，一直沿用到今天，沒有絲毫加以改變，也沒有人來懷疑。當然，這並不是一件很偶然的事，可能是因為這些名稱，確乎能表現其各自的特質與精神來。而現時我們所要討論的，則是「東南」的「吳姓」。「僑姓」和「吳姓」既然是東晉以下南方社會構成的兩大主流，與當時發生的各種問題，都有著極為密切的關係。然而一般人所注意的，只是在西晉永嘉（三○七－三一二年）之亂以後，「過江」南下的中原土族，就是被稱為「僑姓」的。至於「東南」原有的舊家大族，就是被稱為「吳姓」的，卻很少被人談論到，或牽涉到。在如此情形下，要想真正了解這一個時代，解釋這一個時代，顯然是有問題的。而本文的目的，也就是想以有限的篇幅，來尋求中古時代，吳姓在面臨如此巨大的一個衝擊和變化下，所表現的種切。
