It has been acknowledged that the cooperation between indigenous and scientific knowledge in modern resource/disaster management regime can contribute to both the enhancement of limited abilities in resolving the environmental problems, and the achievement of environmental justice in human societies. Summarizing the works that collected indigenous knowledge of disaster and analyzed the spatial pattern of indigenous land-use in the research project conducted in past two years, this study adopts the methods of ethnographic study and participatory mapping to realize the cooperation between indigenous and scientific knowledge. It investigates the indigenous knowledge of land category and usage, recognition of resources and potential disaster locations, community disaster experiences, and opinions toward governmental post-disaster recovery projects, compares them with current disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery policies, and makes suggestions to the localized disaster management regime.
