    Abstract: 一八九四年內渡中國的林爾嘉,不論在政治、經濟以及文化領域都在中國有著一定的影響力,作為一個具有代表性的人物,林爾嘉在中國的文化活動及其呈現出的可能意義,乃是值得關注的主題。本文從「空間」的角度切入探究林爾嘉所創建的「菽莊花園」以及「菽莊詩社」所產生的空間象徵與意義,本文認為內渡中國的林爾嘉儘管逃離了「殖民性」的歷史困境,卻面對了一個「現代性」的難題,而「菽莊吟社」及其詩社所標榜的古典主義的實踐,則是吟社內遺老們面對現代性困境的方案,由此推衍,筆者認為,這意味著「祖國」作為一種救贖的希望,其本質乃是虛幻不實的,也說明了,自割台的那一刻起,台灣與中國就走向了不同的歷史道路,不論是政治或是文學。
    After the Sino-Japanese War Taiwan cedes to Japan, Lin Er-Jia, the fourth generation of Panchiao Lin’s family, go to China with his father. As a representative personage, Lin Er-Jia`s cultural activity in China is the theme that is worth studying. This article tries to discuss the “Shu Jhuang garden” and “classic poetry organization of Shu Jhuang” by methodology of “space” and analyse the space symbolizing and meaning.
