Abstract:	前人記載：東漢『明帝朝公卿大夫諸儒八十餘人，論五經誤失。符節令宋元上言：臣聞秦　昭王呂不韋好書，皆以書葬。王至尊，呂不韋久貴，冢皆黃暘題湊，據地高燥末壞；臣願　發昭王不韋冢。視末燒詩書。』（御覽五六０引皇覽冢墓記。其中「黃暘」二字據漢書霍　光傳蘇林注，似宜作「黃腸」。）茲按：掘墓摸金之事，莊子書中已言之鑿鑿，蓋其由來　久矣。但為論定聖賢詩書而欲發冢取證；宋元之言，在當時可謂匪夷所思矣，惜未聞其見　採實施。先秦文獻之得復見於後日者，率皆出自偶然。除孔壁汲冢，所獲較豐；自餘，河　內西州，則皆零篇殘冊；且其文字皆屬古文。至於漢人以今文書寫之簡牘，溯唐以上，或　因書體較近，縱偶有得，猶未為世人所重。其見於記載，似以北宋末年出土者為最早；但　此等遺物已無一倖存於今。近世西陲發得漢書木簡，數以萬計。雖然殘戍遺檄。未足用以　校訂五經，但其有裨於考論文史，固已不讓宋元創議於前矣。昔段玉裁有言：小學必兼考　漢隸，上可以為籀篆古文之左證。蓋自宋以還，引用牌版文字以考文證史，世有增益；第　以摹榻之物較諸木簡真蹟，則又不逮遠甚。數十年來，中外學者，董埋叢殘而各抒心得，　長篇短製，斐然可觀；以言蕆事，則猶有待。羅振玉謂木簡難讀，其故有三：其時先者，　上承篆書下接章草，一也；邊徼急就之書，頗多譌略，二也；斷爛之餘，不能求其　義理，三也。具此三難，故雖前修之作業俱存，然而窒礙難通者猶往往有之。諷籀之餘，　間嘗隨手附箋，不成體系。茲則略舉數端。用誌厥疑。
