Abstract:	除前言與結論外，內容共分五章，每章為三至四節不等。主在探討陳炯明個人的觀念、態度、作法與粵軍之起源、發展乃至於分裂的密切關係。粵軍於民國六年底正式成立，由陳炯明任總司令，率之入閩，經過漳州時期的發展壯大，終於民國九年回粵驅逐桂系並統一兩廣。中山先生擬即刻進行北伐，但陳炯明卻於此時叛變，粵軍因而產生陳部叛軍與許崇智北伐軍的分裂。日後國民黨的改組，中山先生聯俄容共的實施，黃埔軍校的成立等，在在皆為此事變影響之結果，實為民國史上關鍵性的一段。本文寫作雖起自民國六年，但背景部分則溯自宣統元年（一九○九）陳炯明加入革命黨始，至民國十四年黃埔軍校學生討滅叛軍為止，是為本文論述時限。
