Abstract:	論文提要邊疆研究傳統上以歷史語言和邊政現況為兩大主流。筆者嚐試彌補現有研究之不足，根據已有之研究成果，以民族學、社會學理論觀念開拓新領域，運用成吉思汗為個案，探究其作為與整個大時代的關係，以及當時社會文化變遷的過程，俾能助益對蒙古社會文化的瞭解。全文計分六章，首尾兩章為緒論及結論，本文有四章九節。第一章：緒論。旨在陳述研究動機、基本概念和研究材料問題，並提示全篇重點及範圍。第二章：敬天信仰和意識形態。本章在於證明其神聖敬天信仰和征伐掠奪意識形態，此二元化思想為其發展之張本。第三章：社會文化接觸和整合。本章在於探討其對外發展產生的泛文化社會經驗之幅度，及其整合之途徑。第四章：社會關係的變遷和重組。本章在於瞭解蒙古帝國建立前後，兩性和地域分工組織之調整，以及權力結構的變化。第五章：社會文化的調適與發展。本章分別從氏族政治和社會控制，觀察當時社會文化的變遷。第六章：結論。將本文討論的重點和發現加以綜合整理，並依筆者研究過程之淺見，提出檢討和建議。
