Abstract:	本文首先說明穆王的時代背景及其在呂刑篇中所表現的精義、微旨。其次則從隋書刑法志說起，以見其對後世的影響，然後再分八點探討其大義所在。一、法理探討──探討法理的依據。二、刑書商榷──敘述刑書的創始與流衍。三、刑罰析述──討論刑罰的種類。四、士之資格──歸納士（法官）所應具備的條件。五、審獄斷訟──說明其程序、步驟。六、體恤認識──說明在審理獄訟時，法官所應抱持的態度與做法。七、呂刑篇旨──在明刑慎罰，大中至正，刑期無刑。八、呂刑與堯典、康誥、周禮有關言刑的比較──就堯典、康誥、周禮與呂刑有關言刑的記載，作一明白的比較，以見其輕重、優劣。
