Abstract:	本研究以問卷調查國立政治大學七十一年度大一學生英文閱讀興趣，深入探討學生的個人因素與閱讀興趣之關係，並分析文章特質以進一步瞭解閱讀興趣之所在。研究目的在協助教師瞭解學生之英文閱讀興趣，以為改進教材之參考。研究結果，發現所調查的十一個個人因素，只有性別與對英文之興趣二項，和閱讀興趣較有顯著關係，其他的變項，如系別、年齡等，和閱讀與趣均沒多大關係。文章特質分析之結果，亦顯示學生對文章之喜惡情形，受其特質（尤其是內容和文字）之影響最巨，而與個人因素幾乎無關。本研究之結果示出，對於大一英文讀物之選擇，應該以文章之特質為第一考慮之因素，而關於課外讀物之指定，應酌量考慮學生的個人因素，如此才能引起學生之閱讀興趣，教學才能事半功倍。
