    Abstract: 我國一般大學生能以英語與外籍人士交談者大有人在;國際貿易書信的撰寫,許多非外文系畢業者亦能應付裕如;英文系學生更能與英美友人暢談西方文學、哲學及政治制度。而令人不可思議的,對於耳熟能詳的話語,如「我視力1.2」、「你眼鏡幾度?」「他眼睛老花」,據筆者調查發現,甚多專攻英語的大學生竟不知如何以英語表達。英語教學的目標不祇訓練學生能以英語討論國外問題,也要能談國內現象。由於臺灣近視率高居世界之冠,有關視力問題在日常生活中常被談起,對於這方面常用辭句的英語說法也一直困擾著我國大學生。很遺憾地,坊間英語教科書均欠缺相關的教材。針對此一英語教學的死角,本文以英語裏有關視力的詞句做有系統地探討、介紹,希望能對國內英語教學有所裨益。
