    Abstract: 本書的基本定位為國內大學圖書館的階段性發展紀錄、經驗總結與省思，尤其是過去十年，受到數位化衝擊最顯著的情形下，啟動轉型過程與成果的觀察檢視，並以框架式的整理分析，提供環境、需求、策略、組織、專業、管理等面向的全方位探討與歸納。本書的寫作屬性架構，為兼具學術理論概念與管理發展實務，並以外在環境的改變為基礎，以學術社群需求及使用者行為趨向為出發，展開理論概念與實務發展的對話，並嘗試建構各項議題的框架模型，以協助理解及分析，再對照實際案例與經驗，評論各議題的發展過程與成果效益。 本書的寫作角度，為以資訊科學學者的學術訓練與技術背景，加上長期擔任大學圖書館管理者的親身實務經驗，融合跨領域的視野與專業，在學術理論與管理實務之間，以由外到內浸入體驗與承擔主事，再由內到外的跳脫省思；從學術研究應用領域，到實際主管經營負成敗責任，再交棒離開回歸學術探索，懷抱著第一手的接觸與親身的管理心得，以經過沉澱之後的廣度與深度，全方位回顧檢視，嘗試超越本位思考，提供客觀的分析與評論。本書的寫作將為台灣的大學圖書館在這一段轉型與蛻變的過程，留下歷史的紀錄，同時，也做為學術研究資料與實務個案分析的傳承，並對未來大學圖書館的持續發展，提供良好的參照基礎。
    The position of this book writing is to record the progressive development of university libraries in Taiwan, and to summarize retrospective experiences. In particular, this book focuses on the transformative processes and results of university libraries over the last ten years when impact of digitization was most significant. An analytic framework is used to provide a full perspective investigation and discussion on environment, needs, strategy, organization, expertise, and management issues. This book adopts the writing characteristic of integrating academic theory and concept with field practices. With consideration on changes of environment and information behavior, this book engages a dialog between conceptual ideas and practical implementations. Modeling frameworks on respective issues are proposed to help understand the complication interaction of decision and consequence. The writing of this book is based on the author`s academic training in computer science and actual administrative experiences in a representative university library at head position over nine years. The author intends to offer a unique perspective of cross-disciplinary integration, a synergy of academics and practices, an experience of outside-in and inside-out, an observation of academic research and practical application, a retrospective from executive responsibility to academic exploration. It is hoped that this book can be used as references for academic research and practical guidance and provides a sound foundation for future development of Taiwan`s university libraries.
