Title:	誰是全球第一？解讀上海交通大學「世界大學排名」

Abstract:	1983年，美國「美國新聞與世界報導」以「學術聲譽調查」方式，公布了第一次單一國家全國性「大學排名」，正式揭開了「大學排名」的序幕。90年代，各國開始陸續跟進，加拿大「麥克林」(the Maclean’s)、英國「泰晤士報」(the Times)、日本「朝日新聞」(Asahi Shimbum)、德國「高等教育發展中心」(The Center for Higher Education Development) 等，競相公布該國第一次全國性大學排名。進入了二十一世紀，大學排名出現國際化的趨勢，開始發展跨國性的大學排名，其中大陸上海交通大學更在2003年6月率先公布了第一份全球性的大學排名─「世界大學學術排名」(Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU) ，其主要採用國際認可的學術成果與學術表現作為主要評比指標，對世界1000所大學進行排名。此舉不僅引起國際社會的廣泛關注，各國主流媒體紛紛大幅報導，其中所採用的評比指標，更成為各國政府追求學術卓越，造就世界一流大學的依據。
