Title:	帝國的政治實踐與媒介想像：日治時期台灣的煙火文化 The Empire

Abstract:	本文試圖探究:在日治台灣的社會和歷史脈絡下，「煙火」這一傳統媒介呈現出哪些特質?日本的煙火終究是經過近代政治文化改造過的煙火。官方藉由煙火塑造政治奇觀，在相當開放的公共空間，邀請民眾參與，同時期待他們同樣以煙火回報，以自發的煙火燃放表達認同。他們也期待在殖民地展開類似的交流儀式。但在台灣，傳統的煙火並沒有立即變成近代的煙火。日本的煙火互惠儀式在台灣則走得不太順暢。日台雙方燃放的是化學成分相同的爆炸物，卻在火花四射之際，進入到相同的文化情境之中，產生不同的意義解讀。總之，日治時期，台灣燃放的煙火，與日本國內燃放的煙火，實質上是兩種不同的文化介質。
