    Title: 透過社群輿情分析探討網路聲量與股票價量走勢之關聯-以新冠疫情期間長榮海運股票為例

    Abstract:   近年來拜資訊科技進步之賜,網際網路越來越普及,人們也越來越習慣在網路社群上瀏覽、發表評論,以及與其他網路參與者互動。這些資料經過彙整、資料處理等步驟,便成為寶貴的網路輿情大數據,使用者從中可以發現隱含在數據中的關鍵訊息,進而做出資料驅動的決策。

      本研究欲探討網路輿情的對象為新冠疫情期間在網路世界受到廣泛關注的貨櫃航運業。疫情期間受惠於高漲的運價與燃油價格的下跌,貨櫃航運業者紛紛繳出優異的營運表現,同時也反映在股價上。在股價持續創高的過程中,也引爆網路世界一時的熱門話題。

      本研究將聚焦於長榮海運股份有限公司,並透過硬是愛數據應用股份有限公司開發之eyeSocial輿情分析平台之相關量化指標,如聲量追蹤、關注度、熱門度、發文量及情緒感受等指標進行輿情分析,以實際數據探討新冠疫情期間受到大量關注的貨櫃航運業之網路輿情。此外,本研究亦實際驗證網路輿情與股價和成交量之相關性。

      本研究發現網路輿情對公司突發之單一事件反應最大,所導致輿情聲量的規模與日常討論聲量差異極大,且當其為負面事件,引發之負面情緒極有可能蓋過公司長時間累積之正面情緒。此外,本研究發現若排除造成網路聲量暴增的單一事件,網路輿情與股價和成交量有中度相關性;然若計入該單一事件,相關性將大幅降低,顯示出網路輿情對於突發之單一事件之反應相較於股價和成交量更為敏感、劇烈。
    Thanks to the advancement of information technologies, internet has become more and more universal, and people are getting used to browsing social media, leaving comments, and interacting with other internet participants on various platforms. By organizing and processing the data accumulated, they become precious big data of public opinions and sentiments. Users are then capable of making data-driven decisions from discovering the crucial information hidden in the data.

    The subject of this study is container shipping industry, which has gone viral on the internet during the COVID-19 pandemic. Benefitting from escalated freight rates and declined oil prices, container shipping companies announced remarkable financial performances one by one, and their stock prices also have risen substantially. Meanwhile, they have become the most popular topics on the internet.

    This study will focus on EVERGREEN MARINE CORP. (TAIWAN) LTD., a TWSE-listed container shipping company. In addition, in order to analyze pubic opinions, this study will incorporate the quantitative public opinion data, including volume, attention, popularity, post quantity, and sentiment generated by eyeSocial platform, which is developed by Insighteye Co., Ltd. By analyzing these actual, quantified indices, the public opinions of container shipping companies during COVID-19 can be embodied. Besides, this study also verifies the correlation between public opinions and the prices and trading volumes of the listed stock.

    The study finds out that public opinion reacts to abrupt incident with the most significance. The magnitude of the volumes caused by the incident is immensely higher than the volumes in general condition. And if it is a negative incident, the negative sentiments it causes will likely overpass the positive sentiments accumulated in a longer period. In addition, the study also finds out that when the abrupt incident is excluded, the public opinion and the price and the trading volume of the stock would be moderately correlated. However, when the abrupt incident is included, the correlation will decrease significantly. It suggests that compared with stock prices and trading volumes, public opinions tend to react to abrupt incidents with higher sensitivity and magnitude.
