Abstract:	本計畫的主要特色是從佛教因明應用面向探究從印度（陳那、護法）到東亞（唐代、晚明、日本江戶時代）的佛教思想發展史。另一個主要特色則是，所處理的許多相關文獻都是學界尚未研究或尚未深入研究的。其方法乃聚焦於陳那《觀所緣論》前二頌之詮釋與因明問題，軸線明確，因此可執行性很高，可以期待在思想研究與文獻研究上能夠有所貢獻。不僅如此，這樣的佛教因明應用面向（從因明在文本中的實際使用與討論來瞭解因明）之研究是前人所未發或至少嚴重不足的，因此本計畫能夠彌補國際學界的思想史拼圖中所欠缺的重要部分，並且匡正國際學界（關於印度佛教思想、東亞佛教思想）的某些錯誤或疏漏。
