    Abstract: 在本研究中筆者則希望探討不同地位他人對自我調控歷程的影響,而根據 Fitzsimons和Finkel (2010)的看法,他人可能在自我調控過程中的三個時間點造成影 響:目標起始(initiation),運作過程(operation),和監控達成(monitoring)。筆者將以這 三個不同自我調控歷程時間點,設計三個相對應的實驗,嘗試有系統地檢驗不同地位 他人在自我調控歷程的不同時間點介入時所可能產生的不同影響。

    研究一主要希望探討不同地位他人在自我調控的目標初始所可能造成的影響,在 實驗中將操弄觸發四種不同地位他人(高地位激勵組、一般地位激勵組、單純高地位 組,及無地位訊息之情緒控制組)之訊息,主要依變項為在後續學習作業上所持續的 時間。研究二主要是探討在與不同地位他人互動時對個體自我調控資源所造成的耗損 程度,及其對後續自我控制作業所可能造成的影響。實驗設計是一個3 (回饋訊息: 地位相關vs.表現相關vs.無訊息控制組)x 2 (互動同謀之地位:高vs.平等)的受試 者間設計,主要依變項為在最後類別推理作業上所答對的題數。研究三則是希望探討 不同地位他人在自我調控的監控達成部分可能造成的影響。自我調控開始運作之後, 個體應會監控及評估如何方能順利朝著目標進行。此時不同地位之他人出現,應會引 動個體以不同標準或方式進行自我調控以達成目標。實驗設計為一個2 (自我資源耗 竭程度:高vs.低)X 2 (潛在他人之地位:高vs.平等地位)X 2 (目標範例性質:協 助達成vs.曾經要求)的受試者間設計,主要依變項為個體在隨後一週中願意為健康 所做的努力。
    The current study aims to explore the effects of social status on people’s interpersonal self-regulation. Fitzsimons & Finkel (2010) suggested that we should examine the impact of interpersonal processes on the initiation, operation, and monitoring of goals to gain better understanding of interpersonal self-regulation. Three experiments are carefully designed to correspond to these different phases of self-regulation to study the impact of interactive other’s social status.

    Experiment one investigates how different social status affects goal initiation. Participants will be primed with a high-status other with inspiration, equal-status other with inspiration, high-status other with no inspiration info or no status info (control condition). The main dependent variable is the length of time (i.e., persistence) on the learning task. In experiment two, participants will be randomly assigned to a 3 (feedback type: status concern vs. performance concern vs. no info-control) x 2 (confederate status: high vs. equal) experimental design. The main dependent measure is the performance on an anagram task (number of anagrams solved). The third experiment examines how social status affects goal monitoring phase. It is a 2 (ego depletion: low vs. high) x 2 (other’s status: high vs. equal) x 2 (example provided: instrumental vs. requested) between-subjects design and the main dependent measure is the amount of time and effort willing to spend on pursuing the goal.
