Objectives: Post-concussion symptoms (PCS) are not uncommon after mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). Although these symptoms improved by 3 months after MTBI, patients may still suffer from PCS for several years, which further caused significant social and economic burdens. Many researchers have investigated the clinical outcomes after MTBI in terms of their ability to return to work (RTW), but a comprehensive evaluation of RTW is still limited. This proposal thus aims to evaluate the ‘work quality' (WQ) originated from "work status" and "work stability" simultaneously, and further to explore the associations between post-concussion symptoms (PCS), neuropsychological functions and WQ.Methods: This is a 3-year research proposal. A total of 200 patients with MTBI are recruited prospectively in neurosurgical outpatient department. All participants will be evaluated by multiple measurements, which included PCS, neuropsychological functions and work quality index (WQI), were evaluated.Expected results: As a matter of fact, this proposal is based on the cumulative findings from our research team. After understanding the potential etiologies, influencing factors and intervention programs for patients with MTBI, a longitudinal WQ after MTBI, simultaneously considering work status and stability, was prospectively established in this proposal. In addition, the associations among PCS, neuropsychological functions and work quality can be revealed to provide a comprehensive caring model for patients with MTBI.
