Growing geopolitical tensions between the United States, the European Union and China are disrupting global trade and supply chains, particularly in the electronics sector. European companies with strong exposure to Chinese suppliers face increasing vulnerability to trade restrictions and supply risks. This thesis explores how leading European electronics companies strengthen their supply chain resilience, particularly through multi-sourcing amid rising trade risks. A qualitative, multiple case study approach based on secondary data, in combination with an adapted SCRAM framework (Pettit et al., 2013) focusing on the five core capabilities is used to research practical applications. For the case studies, Siemens, Schneider Electric and Infineon Technologies were selected, based on their industry leadership, exposure to China and data availability. We find that, in practice, multi-sourcing strategies are a key pillar of the companies’ supply chain resilience approaches, especially in combination with a geographical diversification. Visibility along the supply chain and collaboration with suppliers are key enablers of multi-sourcing strategies. The findings offer practical recommendations for European electronics firms and policymakers, aiming to strengthen supply chain resilience under geopolitical uncertainty.
