| Abstract: | 基督新教傳入中國在宗教上和人類歷史上都是一件具有重要意義的事件。它標誌著在景教和天主教傳入中國之後，又一種基督宗教的形態傳入了中國，與中國官方和民眾產生接觸。本論文致力於研究基督新教的傳播模式，以及基督新教在中國傳播過程的多維影響。本土化是外來宗教在中國落地生根的重要過程，也是在地中國人吸收接納基督新教的重要途徑。這一過程離不開傳教士和中國本土基督徒的共同努力。本論文研究的傳播模式和本土化內容對應的歷史時期是清朝和民國在大陸時期。
本論文從清朝的官方和民眾與基督新教勢力豐富和多樣的接觸開始進行學術探索，內文闡述了清廷受基督新教勢力影響所產生的政治、文化和科學上的進步，也論述了基督新教勢力如何成為清朝民眾由封建走向文明的火光。這在清朝歷史上譜寫了燦爛的一筆。
本論文對於民國時期的研究主要從政教關係和體現基督新教宗教文明的事業入手探討。政教關係的探討將以北伐和抗戰爆發為歷史節點，將民國在大陸的歷史時間線分成三段進行探討，論述民國在大陸時期基督新教與政治力量之間的互動。對體現基督新教文明事業的論述在醫療、教育和翻譯與文學創作這三大領域進行，以具體展現基督新教對於中國民眾邁向現代化生活方式正面積極的影響。
The introduction of Protestant Christianity into China was a historically and religiously significant event. Following the arrivals of Nestorianism and Catholicism, Protestantism became another form of Christianity to enter China, initiating interactions with both the Chinese governments and the general public. This study focuses on the modes of Protestant missionary proselytization, as well as the process and multifaceted impacts of its spread in China. Indigenization was a crucial process through which foreign religions took root in Chinese society, and it served as an essential means by which local Chinese people absorbed and embraced Protestantism. This process was inseparable from the joint efforts of missionaries and native Chinese Christians. The historical periods examined in this study, in relation to the modes of proselytization and indigenization, are the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era of mainland China.
This thesis begins its academic discussion with the rich and diverse interactions between the Qing government and its subjects and the forces of Protestant Christianity. It explores how the Qing court, influenced by Christian forces, experienced advancements in politics, culture, and science. Additionally, it examines how the presence of Protestant Christianity served as a spark guiding the Qing subjects from feudalism toward modern civilization. This marked a brilliant chapter in the history of the Qing Dynasty.
This thesis approaches the study of the Republican period primarily through an exploration of church-state relations and the various endeavors that embodied the religious civilization of Protestant Christianity. The discussion on church-state relations is structured around two key historical events—the Northern Expedition in 1926 and the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937 —dividing the Republican era of mainland China into three distinct phases. It examines the interactions between Protestantism and political forces during these periods. The analysis of the endeavors that reflect Protestant Christian civilization focuses on the three major areas: healthcare, education, and translation and literary creation. These areas vividly illustrate the positive and constructive influence of Protestantism on the modern lifestyles of the Chinese people. |
